Map Time!

It’s been a while since I’ve posted! I have more minis and stories in the works, but I’ve been focused on travel, job applications, and working on design documents for a new indie game project.

GDC Map

This is a map I started working on while I was at GDC a few weeks ago. It’s still far from finished, but you can see the pencil lines where I’m considering including additional details like rivers or cities.

Most of my maps use a fairly generic marker for coastlines, but I saw a brief tutorial on WASD20’s channel going over a pseudo-wood-grain style and figured I’d give it a shot. It certainly lends some visual variety, but I suspect it won’t end up being my thing — it takes a lot of time to do and requires a stabler hand than mine.

Usually I only populate these kinds of maps with geographic details, but I’m looking to expand into including more political details. Since this was already a pretty experimental piece, I figure it’s a good opportunity to test city markers. Just have to figure out how I want to do it!
